Finally ready to go lighter but scared of damaging my hair with full bleaching. My stylist suggested ombre to ease into it. Anyone done this? Is it less damaging?

Finally ready to go lighter but scared of damaging my hair with full bleaching. My stylist suggested ombre to ease into it. Anyone done this? Is it less damaging?
Ombre is definitely gentler since they only bleach from mid-length down! I've had blonde ombre hair for two years now and my roots stay healthy and strong. The gradual fade looks so natural too - starts with my natural brown and melts into honey blonde at the ends. Way less maintenance than highlights since regrowth isn't obvious. My colorist did it in two sessions to minimize damage, going to caramel first then lifting to blonde later
